Criminal Court and Family Court,
at the Same Time
Some clients have criminal cases while going through a divorce.
Some are accused of committing crimes against their spouse. Some accuse their spouse of committing crimes against them.
The parties in the divorce and the criminal case are the same.
Divorce is complicated enough without a criminal case layered on top of it.
I’m committed to taking the mystery out of the divorce process where criminal charges are also involved.
I am uniquely experienced to handle cases in both courts.

IDV Court
It’s not usual for criminal charges to arise from family conflict.
If you’re facing criminal charges while going through a divorce, you can hire separate attorneys to handle each matter. But you shouldn’t have to.
In 2003, New York established the Integrated Domestic Violence Court (“IDV Court”), designed to have a single judge preside over multiple cases between family members, where one case involves criminal charges.
In the past, divorcing couples had to deal with court appearances in different courthouses, with different judges, which often resulted in conflicting decisions. This is no longer the case.
IDV Court is unique. I’m very experienced handling criminal matters and divorces – in each of their separate courts and in IDV Court. I have the experience and skills necessary resolve the many thorny issues that arise in divorces, such as:
- Custody
- Visitation
- Child support
- Division of marital property
- Spousal support
I’m also very skilled at resolving criminal matters with the best outcome possible.
